Vuur comes from Belgium and has existed for a few year releasing stuff here and there. This CD is sort of a discography collecting all the recorded tracks with vocalist Yannick who unfortunately got a problem with his voice and couldn't sing anymore and hence was forced to leave the band.
Vuur have earlier released a split 7" with Dutch Seein' Red and while the two bands have a different approach to their music that's still a split that makes total sense as I for some reason though of Seein' Red even before I learned about said split. Vuur play aggressive and slightly twitchy hardcore described by themselves as screamo - a style that ninety-nine percent of the time are utter crap. But Vuur does not sound like other bands that can get lumped in under the screamo banner, this is a whole lot better, has a more powerful sound, and Yannick had a voice ten times better than those other bands. Are there perhaps two sides to screamo? Nah, screamo sucks and this isn't screamo. Not straight up at least.
With that said I don't want to come off as if I love this band, as I don't. I just think they deliver decent fast and powerful hardcore that has some more twists and turns than some others. I have no problem listening to this and there are some tracks that I think are really good, but I can't escape the fact that the best track on here is a cover of the Born Against tune "Mary and child".
